Phrases

Phrase คือ วลี ซึ่งเป็นกลุ่มคำตั้งแต่สองคำขึ้นไปมาอยู่รวมกัน ไม่มีประธานหรือกริยา จึงทำให้ความหมายนั้นยังไม่สมบูรณ์เท่ากับประโยค วลีนั้นอาจมีขนาดสั้นหรือยาวก็ได้

วลี (phrase) ในภาษาอังกฤษประกอบด้วย Noun Phrase, Verb Phrase, Preposition Phrase, Infinitive Phrase, Participial Phrase, Gerund Phrase, Adjective Phrase, Adverb Phrase

Noun Phrase

Noun Phrase ประกอบด้วยคำนามและส่วนขยาย

ตัวอย่างภาษาอังกฤษเช่น

that cat
the cat on the sofa

Verb Phrase
Verb Phrase ประกอบด้วย Main Verb (กริยาแท้) และ Auxiliary Verb (กริยาช่วย) ใน Verb Phrase หนึ่ง อาจจะมีกริยาช่วยมากกว่า 1 คำ

Preposition Phrase

Preposition Phrase ประกอบด้วยคำบุพบท + ส่วนเสริม จะไปทำหน้าที่เป็น Adjective หรือ Adverb ในประโยค

Infinitive Phrase

Infinitive Phrase ประกอบด้วย to + V1 + กรรมหรือส่วนขยาย สามารถทำหน้าที่เป็น Noun, Adjective หรือ Adverb ได้

ตัวอย่างภาษาอังกฤษ เช่น

To act as the foreman for a day Is challenging for an engineering fresh graduate.
ทำหน้าที่เป็นคำนามและเป็นประธานของประโยค

Our group has a project to submit by the end of the week.
ทำหน้าที่เป็น adjective ไปขยาย project

Companies tie up with universities and colleges to hire the best engineering.
ทำหน้าที่เป็น adverb ไปขยายกริยา tie up

Participial Phrase

Participial Phrase ประกอบด้วย V.ing หรือ V3 + ส่วนขยาย ทำหน้าที่เป็น adjective

The horse trotting up to the fenc hopes that you have an apple or carrot.
ขยายคำนาม horse

The water drained slowly in the pipe clogged with dog hair.

Gerund Phrase

Gerund Phrase ประกอบด้วย V.ing + ส่วนขยาย ทำหน้าที่เป็นคำนาม สามารถเป็นประธาน กรรม หรือส่วนขยายประธานได้ เวลาแปลมักจะขึ้นต้นด้วยคำว่าการหรือความ

ตัวอย่างภาษาอังกฤษ เช่น

Eating ice-cream on a windy day can be and messy experience.
ทำหน้าที่เป็นประธานของกริยา can be

Somjai enjoys running in marathons.
ทำหน้าที่เป็นกรรมของกริยา enjoys

Adjective Phrase

Adjective Phrase คือกลุ่มคำที่ไปทำหน้าที่ขยาย Noun รวมตัวเฟสต่างๆที่ได้กล่าวไว้ เวลาไปทำหน้าที่ขยาย Noun สามารถเรียกได้อีกอย่างหนึ่งว่า Adjective Phrase ได้

ตัวอย่างภาษาอังกฤษ เช่น

The children are very happy to see their parents.
A reporter from the ThaiTV questions the president.
สามารถเรียกว่า Adjective Phrase หรือ Preposition Phrase ก็ได้ ทำหน้าที่ขยาย Noun

Adverb Phrase

Adverb Phrase คือกลุ่มครั้งที่ไปทำหน้าที่ขยาย Verb, Adverb, Adjective หรือขยายทั้งประโยค รวมถึง Phrase ต่างๆที่กล่าวมาแล้ว เวลาที่ไปทำหน้าที่ขยาย Verb, Adverb, Adjective หรือให้ยายทั้งประโยค ก็จะเรียกอีกอย่างหนึ่งว่า Adverb Phrase ก็ได้

These umbrellas are very beautifully made.
Surprisingly Indeed, everybody survived in the car accident.
Football has become very popular in our town.
สามารถเรียกว่า Adverb Phrase ก็ได้ หรือ Prepositional Phrase ก็ได้ ทำหน้าที่ขยาย popular ซึ่งเป็น adjective
My brother spoke in a condescending manner.
สามารถเรียกว่า Adverb Phrase ก็ได้ ทำหน้าที่ขยายคำกริยา spoke
